DkIT Ladies Gaelic Football v UCD2, away, Division 3 League

DkIT Ladies Gaelic Football v UCD2, away, Division 3 League – Monday 17th October 2011

DkIT Ladies footballers travelled away to UCD for their second league game on Monday evening (17th). Despite the harsh weather conditions the girls travelled with good numbers again. This week it was the DkIT girls who started quickest from the blocks with a goal scored by Shauna Finnerty on the very first attack. Despite Dundalk IT playing against a strong breeze in the first half, they showed great resilience to maintain a 1 point lead at the break.

Half time DkIT 1-04 to UCD 2-01.

The second half in this game was the best football played by this DkIT this year. They fought off a very strong UCD side and some dubious refereeing decisions to keep their lead the whole way through. This was helped by goals from Elaine Finn and Roisin McKenna and some very hardworking defending from Alison McEvoy and the DkIT defenders. The best for the girls were Rebecca Davey, Niamh Barrett, Danielle Sweeney and Alison McEvoy.
