Search for a Shepherd Boy - Actors wanted.

DkIT's 100 strong choir and DkIT Chamber Orchestra are performing a substantial new work by Siubhán Ó Dubháin at Christmas. Siubhán's Nativity opera The Rose was commissioned by Newry and Mourne Millennium Company and was performed in 30 churches north and south between 1999 and 2001.

Siubhán has reworked it as a cantata for choir and orchestra, and rehearsals have already started in the Black Box Theatre. One of the featured characters in the original opera was the Shepherd Boy, and Siubhán is hoping to find a boy treble, aged between 10 and 14 who would sing the role. If anyone can suggest a suitable singer, Siubhán would like them to contact her in the Dept of Music & Creative Media. She would also like a small group of children, boys and girls, to play the children of Bethlehem, and rehearsals for these will be at 6.30pm in the New Black Box on Tuesdays.
