SciFest 2012 at Dundalk Institute of Technology

Post-primary school students from schools in Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Cavan will display their scientific knowledge with 100 entries in SciFest 2012 @ DkIT

Over 220 post-primary students from schools in Counties Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan will attend the SciFest 2012 exhibition at Dundalk Institute of Technology on 9th May. It's the biggest event since DkIT began hosting Scifest in 2009 – one hundred science projects will be displayed by students from first to sixth year with topics ranging from Septic Tanks to Stain Removal.

SciFest is a series of one day science fairs funded by Intel Ireland and Discover Science and Engineering as project partners and hosted by the 14 Institutes of Technology. Other sponsors include Abbott Ireland, BT, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, NCE-MSTL and PharmaChemical Ireland.

While the judges are deliberating, the students and guests will be entertained and inspired at a presentation by Professor Cliona O' Farrelly from the School of Biochemistry and Immunology, Trinity College Dublin. The event will be closed and the trophies presented by the Minister for the New Era Project, Fergus O'Dowd, T.D.
