Fit 4 Life – Physical Activity and Fitness Week
The final week of Fit 4 Life – Physical Activity and Fitness Week - took place this week, 20th- 24th March 2012. This week we encouraged both staff and students to be active for the week and to try include their 30 minutes of exercise in each day.
We kicked off the Physical activity week on Wednesday 21st March by having an Olympic Themed Obstacle Course. Different clubs and societies took part in the event which included games such as hockey, the Olympic Hula Hoops and also a teamwork challenge. All of the teams did a great job but the winners on the day were the Men's GAA club. Well done to everyone who took part and supported on the day.
Fit 4 Life also worked in partnership with Smarter Travel who launched their Cycle to Work day this week, encouraging staff and students to leave their car at home and cycle to work.
On Thursday 23rd March, Fit 4 Life worked in partnership with Dundalk Football Club by challenging students to the Dundalk FC Soccer AM style game, where student and staff were given the opportunity to kick a football through an inflatable target. We would like to thank Dundalk FC for providing us with the inflatable and for their assistance on the day. Well done to everyone who had a shot at it, many attempts were needed but the students didn't give up until they scored.
On a final note we would like to thank everyone who supported all the Fit 4 Life events over the past 7 weeks. We had great fun organising the events and trying to get our various messages across and we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did. Fit 4 Life 2012 was a great success and we hope next year will be just as good.
