New Members of the Higher Education Authority Welcomed
The Higher Education Authority has welcomed the appointment by Government of seven new members and reappointment of two of the outgoing members of the Authority.
The appointees are,
Dr.. Bahram Bekhradnia, Head of the Higher Education Policy Institute, England
Mr. Paddy Cosgrave, Dublin Web Summit
Ms. Siobhan Harkin, Waterford Institute of technology
Dr. Jim Mountjoy, Deputy Director, Science Foundation Ireland
Mr. Gordon Ryan, Head of Development and Business Operations , Sligo IT
Dr. Anthony Staines, Head of Nursing, DCU
Dr. Brian Thornes, CEO, A Bolt Orthopaedics
Ms. Kathleen Lough and Dr. Mary Canning were re-appointed.
This will bring the number of members to nineteen: the Chairman, John Hennessy and eighteen ordinary members.
John Hennessy, Chairman of the HEA, said,
"With the addition of the skills and experience that these new members bring, the HEA position in implementing the National Strategy on Higher Education will be further strengthened."
