Dundalk IT Launch their 2012 Fit 4 Life Programme

DkIT Fit 4 Life Programme aims to improve the overall quality of life of students and staff of Dundalk IT by promoting Alcohol and Drug Awareness, Sexual Health Awareness, Positive Mental Health, Nutrition and sport and Physical Activity and General Health Awareness.

In its seventh year running the Fit 4 Life Committee still produce new and Innovative ideas and concepts in order to inform both the staff and students alike on the benefits of a healthier lifestyle through displays, talks, classes, events and fundraisers.

The Fit 4 Life Launch took place outside the college canteen on Wednesday 8th February from 1-2pm. The Launch was a great success with both staff and students turning up to support the programme. The launch which was officially opened by Stephen McManus, DkIT Registrar, included a live DJ set from our DJ Society, a fencing display by the DkIT Fencing Club, Gym promotion stand, Fit 4 Life activity sign up stand, Wii Fit and Xbox Kinect Challenge, and a Fit 4 Life Balloon Launch.

Also on the day the Fit 4 Life 'Beat the Habit Campaign' was launched, which involves a group of both students and staff taking the massive step to giving up smoking with the guidance and support of the Sports & Societies Office. The participants will have weekly health checks in order to help keep them on the path and hopefully the participants will kick the habit for good!

The Fit 4 Life Committee would like to thank those that came along to support and also those who signed up to the weekly Fit 4 Life activities. I would also like to thank Stephen McManus, DkIT Registrar, Sinead Dunne, Student Services Manager, the Students Union and the Fit 4 Life Committee for their support and effort for the 2012 Fit 4 Life Launch and the events to follow.

We look forward to seeing you all at the upcoming Fit 4 Life Events and hope it will be as big a success as the launch.
