DKIT students take part in ground-breaking Ablevision project

Students from the 2nd year of the BA in Video & Film Production are currently working alongside students from the Certificate in Skills for Independent Living in the creation of a short TV studio show.

The students are working together on a project entitled 'Ablevision' that aims to create programs made by and for people with special needs. It is a copy of a project that currently runs across the US.

The first joint TV studio workshop session between the students took place this Monday. The students are working together to produce a 5 minute pilot of a light entertainment show, which will consist of interviews, recorded inserts and reviews. This pilot will then form part of a submission to RTE to gauge the national broadcaster's interest in a series in this area. The show is being made as part of the students' Camera & Lighting module and will be filmed in the TV studio in the PJ Carrolls building.
