Making Hunger History – Local Heroes in faraway places

DkIT and the Water Is Life project will participate in a special event entitled "Making Hunger History – Local Heroes in faraway places". The event is organised by Gorta and will take place on Saturday, April 28th at the Westcourt Hotel, Drogheda, commencing 2pm.

"Surface Tension: The Future of Water" and the 'Water Wear' exhibit to feature at the World Science Exhibition in New York.

Water Wear was a recent exhibit in the extremely popular Surface Tension: The Future of Water exhibition at the Science Gallery, TCD which ran for 11 weeks in October 2011. The exhibition has now been invited to participate at the prestigious World Science Festival in New York in May 2012.

Surface Tension exhibition at the Science Gallery in TCD

One billion people lack access to water in its most valuable form, as clean drinking water. Clean water is running out – and around the world it is used as a weapon of power and a tool in political conflict. We can create drinking water by removing the salt from seawater – and in the process we may devastate our marshes and poison the soil. What are the risks and benefits of other such schemes to address water shortages?
